Computer Systems Technology
Mission:
The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment as Computer
Support Specialists. Students may also become employed as Help Desk
Specialists, Level II PC Electronic Installers, and
Field Service Technicians before completing the entire program.
Description:
The training includes configuring, maintaining,
troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems and networks systems. This
program provides the knowledge and skills needed to enter the computer/network
support field. Program coverage includes operating systems, network
fundamentals, hardware installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting.
Preparation for industry recognized certifications are an integral part of the
program.
Unique Requirements:
The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement
prior to program completion. The basic skills grade levels for this program are:
Mathematics 10.0, Language 9.0 and Reading 9.0.
Also, good color vision essential. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Completion time depends on the progress of the individual. The typical
length of this program for the average achieving student is 1650 hours.

- Computer Support Specialist PC Technician
- Level I - LAN Technician/Field Service Technician
- Digital Electronics Technician

Local employers have verified that the range of wages that can be reasonably
expected by students who enter this field upon completion of the program is:
From $20,800 annually to $27,040 annually
