Withlacoochee Technical Institute offers a variety of programs for students and community members to obtain their GED. GED Test Orientation dates are available as listed below, except school holidays. Testing space is limited and applicants are accepted on a "first come basis". You must attend orientation in person and bring your government issued photo ID, Social Security Card, and Test Fee. (All Test fees are non-refundable). WTI students are strongly recommended to participate in one of the following programs (a minimum of 12 hours) before testing. Requirements: Must be 18 years or older; you must take a TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) or have a current TABE score (within the last year). Practice test available on Florida DOE site. Call the Student Services Department for more information at 352-726-2430 Ext 4326.

Effective 7/1/2011 the State of Florida requires students in Adult Education classes to pay tuition for their class.
The tuition for Adult Education classes is $30 per session for students who qualify for in state tuition and $120 per session for those who do not qualify for in state tuition.

• Session 1 -  8/8/2011 to 12/16/2011
• Session 2 - 1/4/2012 to 5/24/2012
• Session 3 - 6/5/12 to 7/19/12

The registration process for GED consists of:

• Completing an application form.
• As of July 1, 2011, payment of a $15 application fee UNLESS the student plans to attend GED orientation and take the GED exam only.
• If the student plans to take the TABE (recommended as a gauge of potential success on the GED exam), attend orientation, and take the GED exam, the $15 application fee must be paid.

This process must be completed before enrollment.

Testing

GED Testing Information

1. All students need to attend an orientation in order to sign up for the exam.
2. Students must be at least 18 years of age or have previous permission in order to take the GED exam.
3. Testing requires 9 hours total, 4.5 hours each day for 2 consecutive days
4. Students need to bring a government issued photo ID, social security card, and $70 testing fee to orientation.
5. Payment for test is due at time of orientation.
6. Students that are retesting need to bring copies of previous GED scores to orientation.
7. Requests for special accommodations need to be made at least 6 weeks in advance and documentation of need for accommodations will be required. Please contact Student Services at 726-2430 x 4326 for these accommodations.

The testing location is at WTI in room 118.
