Industrial Machinery Maintenance & Repair
Mission:
The mission of this program is to provide the highest quality academic and
technical education in preparing students for employment as Industrial Machinery
mechanics.
Description:
Industrial machinery mechanics are highly skilled workers who
maintain and repair machinery in a plant or factory. Industrial mechanics use
technical manuals, their observations skills and their understanding of
equipment operations to troubleshoot the cause of a problem.
Industrial mechanics use tools, computers, test equipment and machines to
calibrate, program, install, repair and make parts to repair and service
machines.
Unique Requirements:
The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skill
requirement prior to program completion.
The basic skills grade levels for this program are:
Mathematics 9.0, Language 9.0, and Reading 9.0
Also, good color vision, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude are essential.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
The typical length of this program for the average achieving student is 1350
hours.
Job Wages:
Earning vary by industry however the Florida Department of Labor reports the
range of wages that can be reasonably expected are $20,500 to $52,920 with the
average between $31,740 and $48,920.
